Review : A Beautiful Dark, Jocelyn Davies

A Beautiful Dark by Jocelyn Davies

September 27th, 2011 (US)

On the night of Skye’s seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites—like fire and ice—Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye’s life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move—only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.

In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can’t help falling for, and Devin, who she can’t stay away from, the consequences of Skye’s choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine.

My review

It‘s a complete love triangle story, even if we know early who will be the lead role and what choice Skye will make.

The cover reveals the twist unfortunately although it is not so obvious in the beginning.

Asher is the typical bad boy we love! ^^ He loves making and having trouble and winking (I love guys winking! ^^) but seems to be very concerned by Skye and her protection. In the opposite side, Devin is the peaceful one, who smoothes Skye from all the revelations she discovers, and comforts her. Skye has different feelings for both boys and doesn’t know how to handle them.

It’s a classical paranormal romance for young adults, an easy reading. However, the ending is terrible, with an unexpected cliffhanger and all I want is the sequel!

    ” A beautiful dark ” seems mysterious and interesting…
So why not ? I’m ready to buy it (lol)
I only hope that the connection between the three characters will be different this time.

Now I can’t wait until september, generally I love when a story have some unexpected twist – you know, when you can say “wow, I haven’t see it coming” – not at all, and you’re eager to discover the end, stunning or not.
I’ll come back here with a great pleasure. Your rewiews are always relevant and interesting. Thanks again for us, Francesca :-))
